Tom Jarndyce is the grandfather of Richard Carstone and Ada Clare and the uncle of Mr. Jarndyce. Tom Jarndyce famously tried to solve Jarndyce and Jarndyce but went mad while he waited for a verdict and shot himself in the head outside of the court. He lived in Bleak House before Mr. Jarndyce inherited it.
