Remuda Term Analysis

A remuda is a herd of horses from which cowhands (either on a ranch or during a cattle drive) can select their personal horses. They are necessary because, during a drive or busy seasons, a cowboy may need three or four fresh mounts per day. The term comes from the Spanish remudar, which means “to exchange.”
