Sarima
Nor is the only daughter and youngest child of Sarima and Fiyero, and arguably Sarima’s favorite. Naturally much kinder and more curious about the world than her older brothers, Irji and Manek, she embodies a trusting nature reminiscent of Dorothy’s. Unlike her brothers, who bully Liir, Nor befriends him. She also takes an interest in both Elphaba and her magic, spying on her and once stealing her broomstick, which she inadvertently flies around Kiamo Ko. Beneath her hard exterior, Elphaba grows to love Nor as well. When the Wizard’s soldiers capture Sarima, her sisters, and her children, Nor is the only one the Wizard spares, keeping her alive only as a bargaining chip to get what he wants from Elphaba. By Nor’s final appearance, as an imprisoned and tortured teenager, she is so broken that she barely resembles the girl Elphaba once knew. Elphaba vows to save her but tragically dies before she can.
