Summary
Analysis
After the robbery, Richard stays away from school for a few days. When he goes back, he visits Kaprice in her office and tells her about the whole ordeal. Then he gives her Jasmine’s phone number. Richard wants Kaprice and Jasmine to be friends so his mother will know how hard he is working. “I’ma graduate,” Richard says. “And I’ma make her happy.”
Again, this reflects Richard’s dedication to achieving his goals, which implies that he is not an inherent criminal. In this light, Richard surely doesn’t deserve to spend the rest of his life in prison because of one misguided prank.
