Negro de Pontecarraro is a nobleman and the father of Andreuola in Panfilo’s fourth tale (IV, 6). He is kind and loving towards his daughter and participates in The Decameron’s argument that class has more to do with a noble character than wealth or status when he buries the poor but honorable Gabriotto as an honored son-in-law after his untimely death.
