In Filostrato’s fourth tale (IV, 9), Guillaume de Cabestanh is a Provencal knight. He is best friends with Guillaume de Roussillon, at least until Roussillon discovers that he has been having an affair with Roussillon’s Wife. Roussillon murders him and feeds his heart to her for dinner, but after her suicide, the local citizens bury the lovers together in one tomb.
