The Leopard Man / The Beastly Man Character Analysis

The Leopard Man is the first of the Beast Folk that Prendick sees exhibiting animal-like behavior and, during Prendick’s first foray into the forest, chases him down the beach. The Leopard Man seems to be the first of the Beast Folk to lapse into animalism, hunting rabbits and running on all fours. While the Leopard is being hunted by everyone on the island to be punished in the House of Pain, Prendick sees human-like fear in its eyes and decides to kill it, mercifully saving it from the torment of further vivisection.
