The President of the parent company of Kimura Company, where Jiro Miyake works. Jiro tells Ono that the President killed himself as a way to atone for the things the company did during the war, thereby allowing the company and all its workers to feel they have a fresh start. Ono disapproves of this action, while Jiro says that many of the most responsible parties are too cowardly to take responsibility as the president has. This comment leads Ono to believe that Jiro broke off his engagement with Noriko because of Ono’s past.
