Marilyn Tilman Character Analysis

Marilyn Tilman is a woman who lives in Annapolis, Maryland, where the Ellisons own a beach house. Monk meets her when he, Mother, and Lorraine are in town for a final vacation before it’s time to move Mother into a care facility due to her worsening Alzheimer’s symptoms. Marilyn and Monk strike up a brief romance that ends after Monk spots a copy of Juanita Mae Jenkins’s We’s Lives In Da Ghetto on Marilyn’s table and confronts her about it, insulting the book and characterizing people who read it as stupid.
