Eight months later, Will is in the airport with Jason. As they wait to board their flight to Brazil, Will watches Stella’s last YouTube video. He’s already watched and rewatched it many times. In the video, Stella talks about how important human touch is. She says that she needs Will’s touch as much as she needs to breathe. Will still uses Stella’s app, and it alerts him to take his medications. He and Jason begin to board the flight when Will hears Stella’s laugh in the airport. He looks around and sees her.
Will always wanted to travel the world, and now that he is 18, he is free to do whatever he wants, even though he’s still very sick. Stella’s video about human touch reiterates how valuable relationships and connection with others are. The fact that cystic fibrosis limits the extent of these connections is frustrating, but Will and Stella are glad that they experienced each other’s company while they could.
