Michel inspects Olive afterward and concludes she’s probably fine. When they get home, Leah tells the story to Ned as if Michel was the hero. Michel and Leah debate whether or not to cancel their dinner plans on account of Olive, but they agree just to have Ned watch her.
Michel doesn’t realize that Olive is seriously injured, showing once again how he often misses crucial details. Leah also acts typically in this passage, choosing to avoid difficult topics (like the possibility that Olive is seriously injured) when she can.
