Micaela’s older brother in “Mericans,” who waits with her and Keeks as their “awful” grandmother prays in church. At the end of the story, a foreign couple approaches Junior and asks in Spanish to take his picture. When he speaks to his siblings, the couple is astounded to hear him speak English. “But you speak English!” they say. In response, he says, “Yeah, we’re Mericans.”
