The Cashier Character Analysis

A woman who works at a Mexican supermarket in “Bien Pretty.” Roughly the same age as Lupita, the cashier looks much older despite her makeup. After telling Lupita that she likes her shawl, the two women discuss the upcoming episode of a telenovela they both love. With her telenovela obsession, the cashier represents to Lupita what it might look like to continue along the path she’s on—a path that consists of watching TV every night and neglecting to pay attention to the outside world.
